The Main Landed Housing Types

How The Common Types Differ

  • Terrace houses share walls with neighbouring units on both sides, typically on the smallest land footprint among landed types.
  • Corner terrace houses sit at the end of a row, sharing one wall instead of two, which usually means a larger plot and more side setback.
  • Semi-detached houses share one wall with a single neighbouring unit, offering more land and privacy than a standard terrace.
  • Detached houses, commonly called bungalows, stand independently on their own plot with no shared walls.

Good Class Bungalows Are A Specific Category

Land-Titled vs Strata-Landed Property

Not all landed homes are structured the same way. Some are individually land-titled, while others are strata-landed within a development, and the ownership and planning considerations can differ. Strata-landed housing, such as cluster housing, is owned more like a condominium unit — subject to a management corporation and shared facilities — even though each unit looks like a landed house.
